Super Mario Galaxy

Mario makes his usual appearance on the launch day line-up on this more than perfect adventure, planet hopping through the galaxy.

The controls in Super Mario Galaxy are easier than you would first expect from such a cutting edge new controller. Unlike Twilight Princess which takes some time to adapt to the mechanics, in Super Mario Galaxy you can almost pick up and play. This however is no indication of the depth and style of the gameplay, as this is probably the flagship Wii launch title.

Your adventure through the Galaxy involves hopping from planet to planet, using the innovative controller to turn, jump, attack and all other actions (quite literally) in the galaxy. The controller acts pretty much as a mouse pointer and from brief experimentation it can be used to manipulate and activate different key point throughout the game to complete puzzles and unlock secrets.

The galactic landscape is quite simply stunning with brilliant lighting and great mechanics. Mario walks and maneuvers better then ever before through more beautiful scenery than you would expect from the somewhat disregarded graphical power of the Wii.

Ultimately this is probably the Wii launch title to be sure you take home with you when you get hold of your console. While Smash Bros and Twilight Princess are bound to be an equal success, Nintend-ites from around the globe will find it hard to resist the lure of the original and still the best, Mario, in his latest adventure.
